Soft and Thick Baby Hat
Keep little ones warm!
Materials: Yarn suitable or double yarn to give gauge of 4 rows= 1” on 7 ½ mm needles.
Cast on 45sts.
ROW 1: K1, P1 across
ROW 2: P1, K1 across
Repeat last 2 rows 4 times more.
Knit 2 rows(garter st).
Continue in stocking st until piece measures 5”, ending with a knit row.
Next row: Dec 5 sts evenly across purlwise.
Next row: Knit
Next row: P2, P2tog across
Next row: K next row
Next row: P1, P2tog across
Next row: K next row
Next row: P2tog across
Next row: Knit
Repeat last 2rows once more.
Break yarn leaving enough yarn to sew up seam. Threading through last remaining sts, sew up back seam.
EAR FLAPS: Do twice.
Pick up and knit 10sts along inside of hat along garter row along the ribbing. Stocking st for 10rows
Next row: k2tog, k to last 2sts, k2tog
Next row: purl
Next row: repeat last 2 rows until 2 sts remain.
Knit an I cord with last 2 remaining sts.
I cord: using 2 dpn’s knit 2sts, DO NOT TURN. Slide needle though and wrapping yarn round knit 2 sts again, over and over until desired length.
